Access to Period Products for Young Girls in School

President Dusti Beaubien met with school nurses to help advance the availability of period products in Collier County schools. 2 in 5 girls have missed school because they cannot afford period products. They can miss up to 20% of their education if they miss school every month. Getting period products to these young girls has been a priority for Alliance for Perido Supplies of SWFL this year.

“My meeting with 27 Collier County School nurses was truly heartwarming. This dedicated group exemplifies hard work and genuine commitment to the students they serve. During our conversation, they candidly discussed the challenges they face every day. One issue that no longer burdens them is period poverty.”

These compassionate nurses have taken proactive steps to ensure that girls in need have access to the period products we provide. They identify those who require assistance and make the items readily available. Moreover, they actively encourage girls to take home enough for their cycles, and even provide additional packs for their mothers.

The nurses highlighted the growing need for period products among elementary school girls each year. They emphasized the difficulty of addressing this need, particularly when many girls lack an understanding of menstruation.

Please help us keep period products in all our schools!
