Aldi Takes a Stand Against Period Poverty

Aldi is marking one year of offering free period pads and tampons in store toilets across the UK—no questions asked.

Since launching in March 2025, the initiative has rolled out to the majority of its stores, helping thousands access essential products with dignity.

The move comes as 41% of people in the UK struggle to afford period products, with many forced to choose between these and basic needs like food or clothing. Some even resort to makeshift alternatives, impacting their confidence, health, and daily lives.

By providing free access, Aldi hopes to support those who menstruate while breaking the stigma—because period products should be a basic right, not a privilege.
