Bank of America Awards a $10,000 Grant to Alliance for Period Supplies of SWFL

Funding will Provide a Year of Period Products for 320 Southwest Florida Women and Girls

Thanks to a generous $10,000 grant from Bank of America, hundreds of women and girls in Southwest Florida will have one less barrier standing between them and work, school, and everyday life.

The grant to the Alliance for Period Supplies of SWFL (APS of SWFL) will provide a full year’s supply of essential period products for 320 women and girls through local food banks serving Collier and Lee counties.

“Bank of America’s commitment to strengthening our community extends beyond traditional needs,” said Dusti Beaubien, President of APS of SWFL. “Their investment recognizes that period products are basic necessities—not luxuries—and will help ensure that hundreds of women and girls can manage their periods with dignity.”

Period poverty affects one in four women, forcing many to choose between purchasing food, paying bills, or buying menstrual products. Without access to these essentials, women and girls may miss work or school or resort to unsafe substitutes such as rags, socks, or paper products.

“We support APS of SWFL’s mission to help provide free, monthly period products to financially-challenged women and girls so they may participate fully in daily life,” said Julie Schmelzle, president, Bank of America Southwest Florida. “This investment reflects our commitment to investing in the individual basic needs of our SWFL community members. That starts with ensuring certainty when it comes to shelter, food and health.”
