Alliance for Period Supplies of SWFL Receives a Grant from United Way of Collier and the Keys

Alliance for Period Supplies of SWFL has received a grant of $2,500 from the United Way of Collier and the Keys to provide period products to at-risk women and girls in Collier County. With this funding, Alliance for Period Supplies of SWFL will be able to ensure that 80 women and girls will have access to the period supplies they need for a whole year.

The reality of Period Poverty is that for 1 in 4 women and girls, affording period products is a challenge. Despite being essential, these items are not covered by federal assistance programs such as SNAP (Food Stamps), leaving many without access to basic hygiene necessities.

“We are grateful for the support from United Way of Collier and the Keys,” said Dusti Beaubien, president and founder of APS of SWFL. “Their commitment to ending period poverty aligns with our shared goal to improve women’s health and economic potential by keeping women at work and girls in school during their periods”
